Are they all yours...?!?!

Are they all yours?!?!... followed by a shocked look and lots of staring.

Well duh... What do you think? Does it really seem likely that I just picked five random children up off the street and begged them to follow me around day and night...? Umm no.

The answer is yes. Yes they are all mine. Yes the first four have a different father than the last one, but they are mine none the less. No, just because the first four are bi-racial does not mean I have five baby daddys and lots of drama.

Would you beleive people ask me these questions right in front of my kids... First like it is any of their business but secondly who the hell cares?! These are my kiddos. I worked hard to make everyone of them. I love them. I take care of them. I do not depend on your tax dollars to do it. So leave us alone.

The most recent episode of this was at Wal-Mart just couple days ago. I was standing in front of the paint supplies and this 80 year old woman walks right behind me and the stops. Just stops walking and stares right at us. There is nothing else in this direction so I am sure she is looking at us. After what felt like 10 minutes of her gawking (but was really only about three minutes) I turn to her, smile and say 'What are you staring at? Can I help you with something?"... Her responses was the huff as loud as she could and walk off. Then about five minutes later I see her walking with a younger but still lot older woman than myself. The younger woman starts walking to me and I prepare myself to cuss this woman out is she even considers looking twice at me or my babies. She walks right up to me and says... "Are they all yours?". Of course I say yes, and was polite about it, even trying to giggle a little to make it sound like I answerd a joke. But here is this old hags response...

"But they are black!"

Are you f-ing kidding me?!

Get the hell away from me lady!

What is wrong with people? What makes that okay? Am I the only person who thinks this is no ones business?

This is 2009. Black people, white people, orange people, purple people... all of us, we are all part of something else. So what if I have bi-racial kids. So what if I have five kids. They are mine. I have asked you for nothing. Which makes my five kids none of your damn business.

Regardless... I have five kids right now whom I love and admire so much we are going to work on a sixth in just a couple months...! And that will not be any of your business.

  1. Your right it is no ones business. I'm sorry that you have to go through this. I don't have a bi-racial child, but many people think that I am much younger than I am. There is always some idiot asking me about having children and going to high school (I'm 27.) Now, I'm all about freedom of speech, but sometimes I wish that they would revoke it for some people.
